El Bellota to Jorf El Melha

Today we are approaching Fes. Before leaving the campsite, we ask the owners if they know of another place where we can pitch our tents, and they tell us that there is a gas station before Jorf El Melha where they let cyclists sleep. Great news! Unfortunately, shortly after setting off, I get a flat rear tire and we have to stop. It's late morning and already quite hot, and I can't find the hole in the tire or even in the inner tube. I decide to replace the inner tube and set off again. This turns out to be a very unwise decision, as I find myself with a tire that is deflating again. It doesn't go flat immediately, and I manage to cover the 2 km that separate us from a house/restaurant/bar. We stop there, under some umbrellas. Everything around us is starting to get hot, the sun is high, and finding the source of the problem is proving difficult... until: there it is! A tiny piece of the tire's metal mesh is sticking out of the rubber, and there's a match in the inner tube! One patch each and we close it all up. Without Benjo's electric pump, I don't know how I would have managed to inflate the tire enough to fit it into the rim, it was the first thing I bought when I got back from the trip. On the way, we stop for lunch in Ouezzane, a city of great religious and historical importance both for the history of the kingdom of Morocco and for its large local Jewish community. We set off again and from Ouezzane we have a 30km gentle descent southwards. One of the most enjoyable stretches of road on this trip! We arrive at the gas station that had been described to us, stop and ask if we can sleep there. A young man immediately says yes, shows us the place and the bathrooms. But he is soon called to order by the real manager of the restaurant, who in turn goes to an elderly owner, who is in the mosque at the gas station at that moment, to ask for final permission. Authorized! We pitch our tents on the first floor of a house under construction, take a nice hot shower, and have dinner.
